Crumb flimsy

I think I have finished my crumb top - I am debating if it is big enough. Current size is about 42"x56". I have so many other things to work on and I feel like they have been hijacked by these crumbs. And, my scrap pile seems bigger than ever. I really don't know what happened! I decided to put some mostly black (with cream and white) fabrics as scrappy sashings to extend the size and to calm the overall effect. I felt like there was so much pattern and color without the sashings.

Jo has shown lettering and more blocks on a border, but I think I might just leave it as it is. Any suggestions?

  1. It looks fantastic with the black sashing. I know what you mean about feeling obsessed with crumbs and having some doubts about the size - I'm in exactly the same boat. I have no suggestions to offer, just love what you've done with your blocks.

  2. Looks terrific with the black sashing and I like how all the sashings are different.

  4. The black sashing looks great. I think the blocks pop with it.

  5. The black makes the blocks look brighter and certainly calms the set nicely. I did a crumble quilt with white sashings in the spring and was pleased with the result. I wouldn't add letters to your quilt, but maybe a bright binding if you don't want to use black there too.

  6. I like the sashing. Black always makes a multi-colored quilt sparkle, I think.

I was planning to sash my blocks as well. I feel that I can "see" my blocks better with the sashing than without. But I haven't chosen a color yet.
